Passenger Balcony Underway at San Diego Terminal

San Diego-based Douglas E. Barnhart, Inc. is expected to finish construction this month on a passenger access balcony that will simplify entries and exits at the San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal in the Port of San Diego.

A new 3,800-sq.-ft. balcony and mobile gangway will enable hundreds of passengers to enter or exit simultaneously, making the process considerably faster.

The fixed access balcony is a design-build project, a first for the Port of San Diego. Irvine-based Lee & Sakahara Architects designed the $1.9 million facility.
