Barnhart
Inc completed modernizations and additions for San Dieguito
Union High School District
Torrey
Pines and La Costa Canyon High School Received Upgrades
Barnhart
Inc has completed projects to modernize and expand Torrey
Pines High School and La Costa Canyon High School for the
San Dieguito Union High School District. Barnhart served as
Construction Manager At-Risk for the expansion and modernization
projects.
Scope
included technology upgrades, and new food service facilities
at La Costa, and two-story relocatable's at Torrey Pines,
as well as new counseling center, and classrooms. Construction
cost was $10.6 million. Both sites were occupied during construction,
which began in June 2001. Barnhart was the general contractor
for original construction of La Costa Canyon High School seven
years ago. Roesling Nakamura was the project architect.
Team
members from San Dieguito Union High School District include
Eric Hall, Asst. Superintendent; Steve Ma, Director of Facilities
Planning; Nettie March, Business Service Analyst; and Russ
Thornton, Director of Facilities. Barnhart team members included
Glynna Hoekstra, Construction Manager; Steve Ybarrando and
Phil Sager, Superintendents; Nada Algharabally, Project Engineer;
and Mindy Ghent and Trudi Childress provided site office support.
Key trade
contractors were: Riha Construction, Cuyamaca Construction,
Control Air Conditioning, Fredericks Electric, The Augustine
Company, Best Interiors, K&Z Cabinets, Rocky Coast Framers,
Olsen Steel, JG Tate Fire Protection, and Thyssen Elevator.
